Part of a road in Neillsville that was washed away by heavy rain killed three motorists last week. The rain created a ditch 50 feet wide and 12-15 feet deep in the middle of the roadway.
A Milwaukee couple in their 50s were the first to fall to their deaths Thursday night as they were driving to Greenwood. The Journal Sentinel reports that they died instantly. The third victim was a 24 year-old woman from Thor.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accidents. The area received one to three inches of rain that day and four inches the previous week.
