A teenager’s death on a student camping trip last summer has prompted her father to file a wrongful death lawsuit against Wilderness Ventures, the company that operated the trip.
In the lawsuit, the father claims Wilderness Ventures acted negligently with willful and wanton conduct. According to the Lake Forester, he is seeking $300,000 in damages. Officials in Teton County in Wyoming, where the trip was held, is treating her death as an accident.
The 16-year-old was helping set up camp when a 75-foot pine tree collapsed and fell on top of her. She was pronounced dead after she never regained consciousness.
