Lenawee Medical Care Facility in Michigan has been served with a lawsuit four years after the death of an elderly patient.
The family of the patient filed the lawsuit, which claims that the patient's death was indirectly caused because nurses at the facility failed to walk the woman to dinner. The woman, who was wheelchair bound, attempted to go to dinner on her own. She fell down a flight of stairs while trying to make her way to dinner and died a few months later. The nursing home also removed a tracking bracelet that the woman was court-ordered to wear to keep her from wandering off on her own.
While autopsy reports found that the woman did not die because of the fall, the family still has a case against the nursing home because of the negligent actions of the facility's workers.
