Eric N. Aponte, 22, is facing charges for sexual assault of a child after allegedly assaulting a 4-year-old relative.
The victims mother reported the suspected assault to a local hospital after taking her son in to be examined. Hospital staff then called police to investigate.
Aponte, of Racine, was taken into custody by police for first-degree sexual assault of a child. He could be sentenced to up to 66 years in prison if convicted of the felony charge.
