Birnamwood man sentenced to 2.5 years in prison

On Tuesday, January 14 Timothy Hauslauden of Birnamwood was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for causing a fatal car accident in Portage County. The April 2011 accident claimed the life of 72-year-old Larry Hillemeyer.

In addition to imprisonment, Hausladen, 50, was sentenced to 3.5 years of probation, 100 hours of community service, as well as paying a fine of $161,000 in restitution.

Hauslauden plead no contest to the second-degree reckless injury charge.

According to the Portage County coroner, Hillemeyer died two months after the incident due to blood clotting in his brain.
