I-196 accident leaves two men dead

On Thursday, October 24th, two men died in a Michigan car accident along Interstate 196 Ford Freeway. The accident occurred between Saugatuck and Douglas in Allegan County. Around 8 p.m. 21-year-old Wisconsin resident Jared Kavinsky lost control of his Honda and crashed into the safety cables of a median.

According to a police report, 62-year-old, Terrence Noone stopped to help Kavinsky when Joseph Willard crashed into the Honda, killing both Kavinsky and Noone at the scene.

I-196 was temporarily closed down at mile marker 41 while city employees carried out cleanup efforts. The interstate was reopened around midnight.
