The two-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday, October 13 on Highways 10 and K in Wisconsin killed two people and injured one.
The Wisconsin State Patrol identified the victims as Rita Kozak, 85, and Adeline Zaidel, 92, both of Stevens Point. Kozak died at the scene of the accident while Zaidel was taken to Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield by helicopter before succumbing to her injuries.
The third person involved in the accident, 26-year-old Minneapolis resident Kelsey Kroll, was transported to a Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Stevens Point to treat his minor physical injuries.
Portage County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Dan Kontos said he plans to talk with the county’s traffic safety committee about the road conditions on Highway 10 and Highway K intersections.
Information from the sheriff’s office indicates that nine people have been killed in seven Portage County car accidents this year.
