Madison law enforcement strengthens resolve to lessen vehicular accidents

Posted under Car accidents

The Madison Police Department is making an effort to curb motor vehicle accidents after a university police officer was hit by a car while performing his duties on campus. The University of Wisconsin police officer was accompanying the Tennessee Tech football team to Camp Randall on his motorcycle.

MPD Lieutenant Carl Strasburg said the plan to bring the number of motor vehicle accidents to zero, which the police department initiated with the Wisconsin Bike Federation, would be to deal with the situation in all possible scenarios.

Strasburg said police will strictly enforce citing pedestrians for jaywalking and bicyclists for not stopping at red lights, noting they had already issued 13,000 citations this year.
