Hepatitis outbreak prompts lawsuit

Posted under hospital negligence attorneys

A hepatitis C outbreak at Exeter Hospital in New Hampshire has prompted the 20 victims to file a class-action lawsuit. The victims, who includes a hospital staff member, were patients at the medical center when they were infected.

The attorney general’s office has announced that it will conduct a criminal investigation. Public health officials have been conducting their own investigation and believe the disease was spread by staff members using syringes on more than one patient.

Hepatitis C is an infectious disease that has no cure. The virus attacks the liver and can cause to chronic health problems, the Boston Globe reports.
