Boy recovers from pit bull attack

A young Tomah boy returned home this week after he was hospitalized for four days following a grisly pit bull attack. The seven year-old was outside of his home riding his bike when the stray dog attacked him.

His mother was able to kick the dog off her son, which had latched its teeth into the boy’s neck, and bring him to safety while they waited for an ambulance to arrive. At the hospital, doctors used more than 100 staples and stitches to repair the wounds on his head, neck, and arms.

The family told authorities that the dog would often roam the neighborhood and that they would often feed it. The dog has since been euthanized.
