Family discovers newborn alive in morgue

Two parents in Argentina were devastated to learn their newborn daughter was stillborn only to discover a few hours later that she was alive. The infant was born three months early and declared dead just 20 minutes after delivery.

She is currently in critical condition in the neonatal intensive care unit but is steadily improving. The child had been in the morgue’s refrigeration room for nearly 12 hours before her parents were allowed to see her.

The family has told the media it plans on filing a medical malpractice lawsuit. They say they have many unanswered questions regarding the handling of their child and the treatment the mother received prior to delivery. Five doctors have been suspended pending an official investigation.
