Nearly 250,000 lunch boxes recalled

Posted on Thursday, January 26th, 2012 at 7:45 pm

California Innovations, Inc. is recalling about 248,000 Ci Sport expandable and insulated lunch box sets because chemicals could leak out of the freezer gel pack.

The three piece lunch box set came with an aluminum bottle and a freezer gel pack, which contains the chemicals diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the company received two complaints of dogs eating and ingesting the gel packs. One dog died while the other was able to recover.

The lunch boxes were sold between May 2007 and September 2008 at Costco, Cost U Less, Leon Korol. Consumers can return the lunch boxes to Costco for a full refund.
