Teenager killed while crossing the street

Posted on Tuesday, November 29th, 2011 at 6:39 pm

An 18 year-old Sheboygan man was killed this morning in a pedestrian accident while walking to school.

The teenager was crossing North Sixth Street and New York Avenue when a leaf collection truck owned by the Department of Public Works hit him. Paramedics say he was unresponsive upon their arrival and his death was confirmed by Sheboygan police less than an hour later. He died of head and internal injuries.

No objects or vehicles are suspected to have been on the street that could have obstructed the driver’s or teenager’s view. State troopers and Sheboygan police will reconstruct the accident.

Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the young victim.
