A local teacher at the Stevens Point Area High School is behind bars after being accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl. The 39 year-old is facing charges of sexual assault and exposing himself to a child. According to the criminal complaint, the assaults started just a few weeks after the technical education teacher's wife died last November and began to increase in frequency in September.
He has admitted to authorities that he had sex with the teenager at least ten times. Stevens Point Area High School has put him on administrative leave pending a court decision. He is scheduled to appear in Wood County Circuit Court next week. If convicted, he could spend 83.5 years in prison.
