Deer Pose Major Hazard to Wisconsin Drivers

Posted on Monday, October 26th, 2009 at 5:29 am

Deer crossing the road pose a major hazard to many Wisconsin drivers.  Deer accidents are common when a car has to travel at a relatively high rate of speed in an area surrounded by woods.  Hitting a deer while travelling fast can cause significant damage to the vehicle and cause a serious accident to follow which could injure individuals in the vehicle.

These types of accidents can occur at anytime throughout the day,  however the lower visibility at night causes most of the accidents to occur in the late evening or at night. It takes a careful and attentive driver to help prevent an accident like this from occurring.

A 92 year-old man was driving on the road the wrong way when he caused a four-car accident on Friday.  The elderly man was driving southbound in a northbound lane when he struck another vehicle head-on.

Four people in total were transported to a hospital,  including the man who caused the accident in the first place.  Alcohol is not considered a factor,  although the age and mental stability of the elderly driver may be in question.

A woman and mother of three children was recently killed after a car accident on Saturday.  The woman was involved in a minor traffic accident, and got out of her vehicle to check on the other driver.  While outside of her vehicle,  another driver lost control of their vehicle.  This vehicle then struck the woman and killed her.

Several vehicles had lost control at the spot where the accident occurred.  The road had a layer of ice on it which was causing the accidents and loss of control.
