The Scout leader was 55 years-old at the Boy Scout was only 12 years-old.

The accident was happening as the Boy Scouts were travelling to a outdoor rock climbing event.  While on the highway,  a motor home lost control and hit the vehicle they were travelling in.

Increased Efforts for Worker Safety

Posted on Wednesday, June 24th, 2009 at 4:54 am

Work Zones across the state are increasing safety efforts after the death of a highway road worker recently took place earlier this month.  The man that was killed earlier this month was a worker in Dane County.

This worker death has prompted officials and law enforcement all over to take extra precautions in order to meet the challenges and demands of working outside near traffic.

Increased safety efforts will involve more signs, stricter safety policy, and increased law enforcement in areas that are work zones.  With all of these factors together, hopefully another accident can be prevented in the future.

Boat Accidents

Posted on Monday, June 15th, 2009 at 7:30 am

Many individuals do not have the proper experience when operating a
boat.  This can be seen many times as experienced boat drivers are
either cut off or have to take action to avoid a collision with novice
drivers.

Many individuals are not able to properly judge the rate of speed or
direction of boats on the water.  It takes a lot of experience to be
able to properly do this, and many people operating a boat simply do
not have this experience.

If an individual is operating a boat without the proper experience,  they could be putting over people at risk for injury.

Wear Lifejackets When On the Water

Posted on Monday, June 1st, 2009 at 4:46 am

While on the lake or rivers, it is important to be wearing a lifejacket.  Everyone in a boat should be wearing a lifejacket as a precaution to help prevent against serious injury.  Even if the individual is an experience swimmer, it is recommended to wear a lifejacket.

Many boating accidents cause violent trauma to the victims in the accident.  Many times, the victim will be knocked out and land in the water.  If this occurs, one of the main factors in preventing a drowning will be if the individual is wearing a life jacket.

Also, if emergency officials are slow to respond, a lifejacket may be the only thing to keep the individual afloat for several hours.
