Memorial Day Safety

by Administrator 22. May 2009 05:09

Memorial Weekend is fast approaching.  Several tips can be followed to make sure that this holiday weekend is a safe and fun weekend to remember.

To begin,  it is absolutely important to have a designated driver if you are going to drink.  This is very important, as the police presence will be increased for this weekend because many people will be on the road.

Next,  it is important to stay properly hydrated and wear sun screen.  If you are spending a lot of time outside,  drink lots of water and wear sun screen.

A final tip is to obey the law.  While enjoying the weekend, don't break the law and the odds of having an accident will be low.

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend.

Local Officials Promoting Motorcycle Safety

by Administrator 18. May 2009 06:00

Following a fatal motorcycle accident that took place in late April.

Local officials have been promoting safety on the road for motorcycle riders and individuals who ride in cars.  For the individuals riding motorcycles,  the officials are trying to promote the use of helmets at all times.  The use of motorcycles without helmets can be very dangerous.  Slow speed accidents can turn fatal.  Officials are also hoping that motorcycle riders will drive slower and follow posted speed limits.  For people in cars and other vehicles,  officials are encouraging them to check their blind spots for motorcycle riders.  Further, officials are asking them to be cautions when driving around motorcycles.

If these steps are taken, the roads should become safer for motorcycle riders and other drivers.

Family Settles with Whole Foods

by Administrator 13. May 2009 04:29

The family of a marching band assistant who was killed nearly four years ago in a school bus accident has settled with Whole Foods.

The suit is from an incident that took place on October 16th, 2005.   In the accident,  the bus driver, a band director, the man's wife, and their granddaughter were killed.

The crash was caused from a collision between the bus and an overturned Whole Foods semi-truck that had flipped after losing control.  The family accused Whole Foods of allowing the semi-truck driver to be on the road when the man was suffering from exhaustion and fatigue, which likely caused the semi-truck to flip to flip in the road.

Be Careful While in a Construction Zone

by Administrator 1. May 2009 01:30

While driving on state highways,  be observant for warning signs or notices that you are approaching a work zone.

While in a work-zone, it is important that you go the posted speed limit at all times.  It is also important to take several other precautionary steps.  Do not become distracted with the phone or other items.  A work-zone may pose several different hazards that are not part of a normal drive.  You must be observant for workers on or at the side of the road.  Also be observant for patches of road where construction is occurring.  Sometimes the road can be uneven or may contain an area that would be dangerous to drive over at high speeds.

Taking this steps, you should be able to increase the safety of yourself and others in work-zones.

If you or someone you know has been affected by an auto accident, contact the Stevens Point personal injury attorneys of Habush, Habush & Rottier, SC at 800-242-2874.
