Good Samaritan Kills Dog As It Attacks Elderly Woman

Posted on Thursday, February 5th, 2009 at 5:02 am

An elderly Iowa woman was attacked by a 90 pound bulldog on Sunday, but was saved by a good Samaritan who stabbed the dog to death with a pocketknife.

Ana Lyon, 77, was knocked to the ground by the American bulldog while in her front yard.   The bulldog then went after Lyon’s own dog, a miniature Doberman pinscher.  Lyon said she feared for her dog’s life as well as her own.

Fortunately, a good Samaritan happened to be on the scene and came to Lyon’s aid.  Kevin Daub was driving by in his truck when he saw the dog attacking Lyon.  Daub jumped out of his truck and stabbed the bulldog to death with his pocketknife.

The bulldog was to be tested for rabies, although officials said it was properly licensed and had not caused any similar problems in the past.
